A Four Component Picture for Jet Induced Correlations in Heavy Ion Collisions? Recent Results on Two and Three Particle Correlations

چکیده

These proceedings review recent results from two and three particle correlations in heavy ion collisions. In particular we discuss the modified structure of the away side jet correlations. Under the assumption that the away side can be decomposed into a punch through component at ∆φ = π and a shoulder component with a peak displaced from π many similar properties are observed between the ridge and shoulder. The particle ratios, yields and pT spectra are in near agreement. We also highlight important future measurements, including investigating if the decomposition of the away side jet correlations remains reasonable with high pT triggers and technical improvements to the extraction of jet induced correlations. Three-particle correlation from glasma flux tubes

We compute three particle correlations in the Glasma flux tube model of high energy heavy ion collisions. We obtain a simple geometrical picture of these correlations; when convoluted with final state radial flow, it results in distinct predictions for the near side three particle correlation in central heavy ion collisions.

Identified Particle Correlations at RHIC : Medium Interactions & Modified Fragmentation

Azimuthal angle two particle correlations have been shown to be a powerful probe for extracting novel features of jet induced correlations produced in Au+Au collisions at RHIC. At intermediate pT , 2-5GeV/c, the jets have been shown to be significantly modified in both their particle composition and their angular distribution compared to p+p collisions. Two-particle angular correlations with id...

Analysis Method for Jet-Like Three-Particle Azimuthal Correlations

Jet-like three-particle azimuthal correlations can discriminate various physical scenarios that have been proposed to explain the observed strong modification to twoparticle azimuthal correlations. The three-particle correlation analysis is notoriously difficult in heavy-ion collisions due to the large combinatorial backgrounds. We describe the general idea behind the jet-like three-particle az...

Two- and Three-Particle Correlations With an Intermediate or High-pT Trigger Particle

Currently at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) protons have been collided at energies of up to 7 TeV and lead ions at energies up to 2.76 TeV per nucleon pair. These collisions produce an explosion of many particles and there are many ways to study them. One method is to look at jets. We, in particular, are looking at correlations of particles with an intermediate or high-pT trigger particle. The...

Particle Interferometry from 40 MeV to 40 TeV

Recent developments are summarized in the theory of Bose– Einstein and Fermi–Dirac correlations, with emphasis on the necessity of a simultaneous analysis of particle spectra and quantum statistical correlations for a detailed reconstruction of the space-time picture of particle emission. The reviewed topics are as follows: basics and formalism of quantum-statistical correlations, model-indepen...
